OUR BELIEFS

We believe that a good education empowers children by allowing them to take their future into their own hands and play an active part in shaping it. We also believe that nothing has a greater impact on their lives than the education they receive, and that all children deserve to go to school and college, regardless of what their circumstances are.

We believe that each of us has a responsibility to help all children fulfil their potential and realize their dreams, because every child has the right to thrive.

We have committed ourselves to the goal of empowering children living in poverty. The most effective and sustainable theory of change which will assist in achieving this goal is to provide a high quality education system. Education is not only a human right, but also a crucial factor in breaking the cycle of poverty, improving health, and strengthening social responsibility and environmental protection.

Education is a human right

Education is a fundamental human right and the fourth sustainable development goal of the UN. Every human being has the right to inclusive and quality education in order to make the most of their potential. Furthermore, it is also an established fact that many other human rights can only be realised and respected if a sufficient level of education is achieved.

Education reduces poverty

Education is one of the decisive levers, which enables people to overcome existing poverty. In many cases the poverty traps have spanned generations. It is only through education that people gain options and are able to take control of their lives. Education increases the chance of obtaining a permanent job and regular income.

Education improves health

Education is one of the most effective and sustainable tools for promoting public health. Typically, educated people are better informed about diseases, hygiene and nutrition. They are able to recognise symptoms of potentially life-threatening diseases sooner, for which they proactively seek medical intervention. Preventative health initiatives can only work if people have at least a minimum level of education.

Education enhances social responsibility

Education is a fundamental prerequisite for a functioning civil society. It promotes tolerance, mutual understanding and long-term strategic thinking. Similarly, behaviour that endangers the environment can only be counteracted by education. Women and other minorities facing discrimination also require well educated champions in order to safeguard their rights.

We believe in children. As their champions we are committed to acting in their best interest.
